My dog is a shepherd mix and he has a handful of attitude. We were banned from going to PetSmart because the staff was inadequately trained on how to manage my him. Fortunately for me, I found Play and Stay Pet Care and they were not only great with my dog....all of the staff had a background with troubled dogs which made it easy for me to trust my dog with them. They are also friendly and helpful in every way possible. My dog stayed overnight several times without any incidents. My dog is very important to me and I wouldn't trust just anyone to care for him and I trust them 100%. My dog loves them and so do I.

Love these folks!

I have trusted Play and Stay with my dogs for overnights and during the day play time for 5 years. They are wonderful. I feel that my dogs get individualized attention. No matter who is working, they always know my pet's name. And my dogs come home tired with wagging tails. They are the best.

The Last Straw **: My dog was ...

The Last Straw **: My dog was brought to board there one week after having surgery. When she was dropped off she was in good spirits and healing well. I picked her up 72 hours later which was much earlier than I had originally planned. When I arrived, the surgical site was so grossly swollen and bright red that when I put her in the car it split wide open and blood literally poured out of her. She was taken to an E.R. veterinarian where she has now been for over a week, and I'm told will be there for another 7 to 10 days. I was told by a staff management member that if the site was infected, it might have been because the dogs are let out to relieve themselves in the back grassy area which is prone to flooding. That thought alone makes me nauseous! Within 24 hours of this incident, the staff had gone from apologetic for not notifying me of changes to her condition to hostility, unprofessionalism, and complete and utter denial which I believe to be an attempt at damage control by the owner. ** On a separate occasion, my dog was temporarily on a medication that caused some anxiety. She was boarded for one week and on the FIRST night she tore her bed apart and ate a good part of it. I was not told this until I picked her up ONE WEEK LATER. The ingestion of her bed resulted in complications and a major delay in receiving treatment for an ongoing illness. I'm told the facility is staffed overnight but have to ask why bother if the pets that are staying overnight are not monitored?? ** Other unacceptable occurrences include a dog getting loose and pushing through an unlocked gate then attacking and biting my dog as I was leaving the facility (no skin was broken). **Ear medication was not administered for an entire week on a previous boarding experience. Upon pick up, I specifically asked a member of the staff to verify that it was administered and was assured that it had been. When I returned home and unpacked her items, the seal on the bottle had not even been broken! ** On another occasion, a food supplement was to be mixed in with her nightly meal. Again, when I unpacked her items the seal had not been broken! ** Additionally, my dog was bitten by another dog between the eyes and required an ER visit and stitches (the owner did take her and pay the bill). ** Did my dogs like going there? Of course they did. They're dogs and they don't know any better. Am I stupid, stupid, and more stupid for not permanently pulling them out sooner? Yes, I am. At one point, I did pull them out and ended up going back several months later because of the cheap prices and convenient hours and location. I absolutely regret that decision because in this case, I definitely got what I paid for.

Love this place!

I think some of these reviews are a bit unrealistic. If you want to protect your puppy from everything you could have them in a kennel somewhere else. I would rather risk it and have my dogs be able to play and have a good time! I have been bringing my dogs to this facility for about a year and have never had a problem. As soon as we pull into the lot they are going crazy trying to get out of the car so that they can get inside and play. They come home happy and tired out which is great for us! The extended hours are also an added bonus. This is the only place I have found that my dogs love to go and we love to take them there! The price is very reasonable too!

Injured Puppy

The first time we took our 4 month old puppy here for an afternoon of playing, everything was fine and she had a good time.

So we took her back for another daytime play session. The next day she was very lethargic, was licking and biting at her legs, and wouldn't sit. We thought this was just because her muscles were sore. The day after, she was feeling worse, had a bloody front foot and swollen hocks on her back legs. We took her to the vet and found an abrasion on her front paw and scrapes on her back legs that were infected. The vet said it was due to rough play and sliding on concrete, carpet or grass. Three of her legs are bandaged up and we have vet bills of $226 and counting. All of this after a 6 hour session. I question the supervision of the dogs there and if the employees will separate the dogs if they are playing too rough. We want our dog to be socialized but not at this cost.

Take your dog here at your own risk because you don't know who or if anybody is caring for your dog. We will never be back.

A wonderful place to take your beloved pet!!!

What a wonderful place!!!! Very nice people and clean facility. My little "baby" is very shy and they are wonderful with her. Upon my first visit Dan got down on the floor to greet my Zoe, I thought that was wonderful!! They have plenty of room inside and out that is very cleanly. I drop off early and pick up late and the actual owners are there the whole time to over see everything. They are happy to talk to me through out the day when I call and tell me how everything is going. Even on weekends the dogs are not cages AT ALL (unlike other facilties that are closed down and the entire staff leaves on weekends) They are a 24/7 facility so even if I even have to leave her over night I will know she is protected!! :) 5 stars!!!
