Stay away

I been here for a few years and let me tell you it is not a safe place to be. You could have a nurse that is taking care of you that works on the general medical floor, but where are you, you are on the heart floor. She/he does not know as much as a nurse that works on the heart floor day in and day out. Most of the nurses that work in special areas such as ICUs, Recovery rooms, OR, ER, Open heart floors, Telemetry floors, Mother/Baby all take special training and lots of classes to know what to look for in there special areas. Like telemetry floor nurses, they know what a heart pattern on the monitors means and they need to give curtain drugs to stop or slow down a heart attack. When a blood pressure is to a certain point they know when to give a drug. ER nurses go to lots of classes and training so much so that they can hand a doctor an tool before he even knows he want it. They know what labs to order what drugs to order before the doctor ever tells them. OR nurses well there are some OR nurses that stand in for another doctor because one can not get there in time because it is a emergency or just no one else is available. Mother/Baby nurses know about women things and how to care for a baby, how to get babies to start feeding, or how to deliver a baby. Now how would you feel if you are in the hospital for a heart condition and found out that your nurse only knows about getting babies to start feeding?!!!!!
People of America you need to start asking your nurse what kind of nurse she is and if it is not why you are in the hospital you better be asking for another nurse and don't stop till you get the correct type of nurse. The hospital think it OK to trade out nurses because "a nurse is a nurse". Not true. If a nurse has worked with kids for 15 yrs or longer then she most likely has not taken care of a heart attack pt for that long of longer. Don't risk your self or a family member. Stand up to the nursing supervisor and say I want a trained experienced nurse overseeing my (my family members) care. If that does not work call in the newspaper and TV stations.

Poor ER Care

A few days (03/15/09) ago my sister was brought in by ambulance due to a laceration of the hand by a knife. She stated she went through triage in the ER and was informed by triage that she needed stitches to close the wound. She was then transported to a small room in the ER where she stated she was told she could not receive care due to lack of health insurance. She stated she also was told to go to the free clinic. I am a health care professional, have been a R.N. Director for over 10 years. I am appalled at the actions that were taken regarding this situation. I do understand that private hospitals have the right to turn away patients after stabilized, however I do not feel the she was stabilized. More so I feel she was treated poorly. There are a multitude of people in the United States that are unable to afford the high cost of health insurance let alone struggling to make ends meet just to keep a roof over there head. In this situation I feel that my sister should of been treated.
The ambulance transported her to the ER, when this occurs in most cases there is a clinical judgment made by a medically trained individual that care is required at an emergency room visit level. This occurred between the hours of 7:30pm and 11pm. This is not the first instance in which she stated she has been turned away due to lack of health Insurance from this particular hospital. If in fact the hospital was unable to treat her, why was she not provide with information of a public hospital that may assist her, rather than the free clinic?

If you don't have insurance or if you are latino or Hispanic you better don't go to this hospital this hospital is racist and they don't care if you died. No insurance " they don't want you ". I have a friend who's mother is currently there and she is been there for more than 6 months in a coma... They don't take care of her, they don't clean her and the nurse goes to her room ones or two times during the day.

Adverse treatment To a cardiac patient

To whom it may concern, I am patient Willie Unit #000202247 N Room #329 bed 2. My Charge Nurse was Jackie, my nurse was Eleanor. Ablation Doctor Cassidy decided that this procedure was needed is written in the patient handout booklet that I would get a nurse visit every 2 hours by a nurse. Well my nurse had not arrived to my room the time the time of 7:50 A.M. And the later when I saw her was 11:21 A.M. on 8/30/2012. I have not received my meds When the over night nurse was on duty. My doctor has released me and the nurse assigned to me had not started on my paper work for my release but no one serious had been back in the room to see me. The patient date and chart that's on the wall had not even been updated . Please review the attachment to see the exact name of the nurse that was assigned to me patient Willie James Smith Jr. I sensed a little bit of adverse treatment going on And I'm very upset being a heart patient. I find it strange that the patient that share the room with me Being that he was a white male, His nurse was attentive was concerned not just for being uncomfortable from the pain in my chest from the ablation procedure it was the negligent ways that nurse Eleanor Snatched it out And attempted to make a joke About the size of my hoo hoo Quote: She stated., Well there's not much for the catheter to out of. I find that very unprofessional
