Don't believe the hype--most people have no idea what good Chinese is. This stuff is MSG-laden, mediocre at best fare. You can't get food without the MSG unless you ask for it steamed, and then you are experiencing even more bland food. Every time I eat there I am disappointed by the flavor and then upset with myself for braving the MSG since there's so much in the food I start feeling sick almost immediately. The decor is interesting, and there are a few choices that aren't greasy and nasty, so I gave it two stars instead of one. But seriously, Flint has much better to offer if you just look around a little. To the owners: PLEASE CUT IT OUT WITH THE MSG!!!!

This used to be the only place I would purchase Chinese food because they're quality was so good. Now the quality is very inconsistent. Sometimes it's the best, sometimes it's as awful as the cheap stuff. I'm extremely underwhelmed by their waitstaff as it's very difficult to properly convey an order. Unusual phrases like "light ice" are not translatable to some of the servers.

Luckily, they still have the best hot and sour soup ever!

They have absolutely the best chinese food! I always get Crab Rangoon, Egg Drop Soup, and Sesame Seed Chicken! I crave it all the time!

Doesn't matter what you order, everything is good!... nah... everything is GREAT! Notations for spicy... they are serious, best fried rice I have ever had!

Service is great the other reviews don't do it justice, and i can't either. If u want Mandrin food aka Chinese food. This is The Best Place In Flint,Michigan for it.

Beautiful Interior, wonderful food, Great service. I live in Durham, North Carolina now so I only get to have it a couple of times a year, but each time I come home to see my family it's a ritual to go and have their "Mongolian Beef". Luckily I'm in town today so were going there for lunch.

One of my favorite restaurants. Decorations are very colorful and nice. Food is absolutely excellent and prices are comparable to other Chinese restaurants in area. Liquor served.

Empress of China has an inviting dining room with lots of colors. The lunch specials are a really great deal and the food tastes great.

EOCR is a restaurant that's steeped in lore, indelibly branded on the culinary map since its founding chef, Masataka Kobayashi, was murdered more than 20 years ago. The crime has never been solved.



Under each succeeding chef, the place continued to thrive: Bill Galloway took over the kitchen for more than two years and Julian Serrano stayed for more than a decade. When Serrano left to open Picasso in Las Vegas, sous chef Chad Callahan, who now owns Fish in Sausalito, took the helm.

Several Years ago I used to only go to those fast food type Chinese restaurants, until one day my mom convinced me to try Empress of China. I have been hooked ever since.....that was over 7 years ago. I have tried other Chinese restaurants throught the state and never have been able to find any that could match the quality of Empress. I would highly recommend the General Tso Chicken, the Almond Chicken, and a signature dish they call "Empress Double Sticks". It is teriaki chicken and steak on a skewer. They have a great all you can eat buffet on sunday afternoons that features those items.

The shrimp toast is awsome! The customer service is great. I have tasted the DUCK, mmm... I will turn 29 in DEC 2007, you know were I'll be. Wounderful all around. Both sides of the family will be envited 30+ -no problem, and yes, the full duck will be ordered. I can't wait.

Authentic food. You will love it. Reasonably priced. Awesome, Awesome food. My favorite by far.
